FAQs

  • Therapy is a confidential, non-jugdemental process where you work with a trained mental health professional, in this case a Clinical Psychologist, to address challenges, gain insight, and develop effective coping strategies. It can support emotional well-being, improve relationships, and help you navigate life’s difficulties with greater clarity and resilience.

  • I work with people across the life-span, supporting them through life transitions, identity development, and personal growth. My areas of expertise include:

    • Anxiety & Stress Management – Building practical tools to manage worry, overwhelm, and daily pressures.

    • Depression & Mood Disorders – Addressing low mood, loss of motivation, and emotional distress with evidence-based approaches.

    • Childhood Trauma & Healing – Creating a safe space to process past experiences and foster resilience.

    • Life Transitions & Identity – Guiding clients through academic, career, and relationship changes while exploring personal and cultural identity.

    • Culturally Responsive Therapy – Bridging Western psychological practices with holistic and culturally rooted perspectives, with a focus on South Asian American and other diverse communities.

    • Community & Collective Well-being – Supporting individuals within the context of their families, communities, and cultural systems.

  • Book a consultation call!

Finding the right therapist is a personal journey, and it’s important that you feel comfortable, heard, and understood. During your free 15-minute consultation call, we can get to know each other, discuss your goals, and see if my approach feels like a good match. Therapy is a partnership, and feeling safe and supported is the first step toward meaningful growth. There are no hard feelings in finding a therapist that woks well for you!

  • The therapy process depends on your individual needs, but it typically follows a few phases. First is the evaluation phase, where we explore your symptoms, history, and what’s bringing you to therapy. Next is the feedback phase, where I share my observations and how I understand your situation. Then we move into treatment, where we process experiences, develop new skills, and work toward your goals. Finally, we enter maintenance and termination, focusing on sustaining progress and preparing for life beyond regular sessions.

  • The length of therapy depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from a few months of weekly sessions, while others may continue for longer periods.

Therapy can be once a week, twice a week, once every two weeks, or once a month, based on your symptoms.

Sessions are typically ~50 minutes in length.

  • To get started, click Contact Us and fill out the form. We will reach out to schedule either a free 15-minute consultation call or your intake appointment, depending on what works best for you.

  • Your first session will be an intake appointment, where we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, any current symptoms or concerns, your personal and medical history, and your goals for treatment. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about me and how we can work together to support your growth and well-being.

  • Our fees vary depending on the type of service:

    • Intake Appointment: $200

    • 50-Minute Therapy Session: $175

Additional fees may apply for late cancellations or other services.

We understand that cost can be a barrier to care, and in some cases, we offer a sliding-scale rate to make therapy more accessible. To learn more or inquire about fees, please contact us directly.

  • At this time, we are a self-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly.

We are in the process of becoming credentialed with select insurance providers, but we cannot guarantee a specific timeline. However, we are happy to provide a superbill (an itemized receipt of services) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend checking with your provider for details.

  • You can cancel or reschedule an appointment anytime through the client portal or by contacting Dr. Malhi directly at dr.malhi@munmindtherapy.com

Please note all changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.

  • Our practice is fully online to make therapy more accessible, flexible, and convenient. Telehealth allows clients to attend sessions from the comfort of their own space, eliminating barriers like travel, scheduling conflicts, or childcare needs. It also enables us to serve individuals across the state, including those in rural or underserved areas who may not have access to local providers. Many clients find that meeting virtually offers greater privacy and comfort, while still receiving the same level of professional, compassionate care.

  • Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything you share in sessions is private and protected under HIPAA. We will also openly discuss any instances where we share community connections, so you feel comfortable with how your information is handled. Please note that, in rare cases, confidentiality may be legally required to be broken—for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. Your trust and privacy are always a top priority, and we take every step to ensure a safe, respectful, and professional space for therapy.
